Why the desert works so well for this
Some occasions do not need a function room. They need there to be nobody else: no tables next to yours, no music from another group, nobody walking through the back of your photographs.
We are at Erg Znaigui, outside the stretch where the Merzouga camps cluster together. There are ten tents and nothing but dunes around them. Once the fire dies down, the only thing you hear is the wind.
The rest of the year that is simply pleasant. On the day you are celebrating something, it changes everything.
What we can arrange
Tell us what you are celebrating and how far ahead, and we will set it up. We have done all of this before:

A proposal in the desert
A proposal at sunset from the top of a dune is the one that ends up in the photographs. It works, but the timing matters: the good light does not last long and it pays to head out early.
If you tell us beforehand, we make sure everything happens when it should and that nobody is where they should not be. You only need to think about the question; we plan the rest with you.
How we plan a proposal, step by step
- 1. Tell us beforehandOn WhatsApp, when you book or later. If it is a surprise, message us yourself and we deal only with you.
- 2. We pick the timeSunset changes a lot through the year: at the end of December it is around a quarter past six, and in summer much later. We tell you when to set off for your date.
- 3. Up the duneThe easiest way is the sunset camel ride, which is already included and ends at the top of a dune. If you would rather not ride, we take you by 4x4.
- 4. Nobody in the backgroundSomeone from the team keeps the scene clear so nobody appears behind you at the moment that matters.
- 5. Then, dinnerIf you want it, a private dinner on the sand, with the table set among the dunes and lanterns, and your tent decorated for when you get back. The price depends on what we prepare: we give you a fixed price on WhatsApp.
Weddings and events
We also host weddings and events at the camp. Each one is different, so we plan it with you: message us with the date, how many of you there will be and what you have in mind, and we’ll tell you what we can arrange.
Questions about celebrations
How far in advance should we tell you?
The sooner the better, especially for a cake or decoration: there is no shop around the corner here and everything comes from Merzouga or Rissani. A week is plenty; the same day is not.
Can we book the whole camp?
Ask us: message us with your dates and numbers and we will tell you what is possible.
How much is a private dinner on the sand?
It depends how many of you there are and what you want arranged. Message us on WhatsApp and we will give you a fixed price, with no surprises afterwards.
Can you take photographs?
Tell us what you need. What we always do is have someone from the team keeping the scene clear so nobody appears in the background at the important moment.
Can we celebrate a birthday with children?
Yes. There is a family tent sleeping five and children’s menus. Sandboarding and the camel ride tend to be the best present of the day.
Do you offer gift vouchers?
Yes. We arrange them on WhatsApp or through the contact form on the website: message us and we’ll explain how it works.
